Maritime / Nautical / Mediterranean Museum

The Museum of Masnou was officially created in 1962 and after being located at number 28 Carrer Sant Francesc d’Asíss, with a typical museography of the 1970s, it moved to its new headquarters in 1998. It was closed for modernization in 1999 and opened to the public in completely renovated new facilities in its current space in 2001.

The facility measures 2,048 m2 and the museum spaces are distributed in different thematic areas: the blue sea (coastal morphology), Antiquity (remains from different archaeological sites in the area), birth of the town (origins of the town of El Masnou) vessels of El Masnou (shipyards and complementary ship building trades); commerce (trade routes with overseas colonies); the seafaring heritage in El Masnou; and the audiovisual space "El Masnou in the twentieth century".
