The Calella Lighthouse Interpretation Center was opened to the public on June 13, 2011.
Using the figure of the Calella Lighthouse, the Center seeks to explain how lighthouses communicate with their environment from three perspectives:

  • Maritime communications, through their intrinsic function of guiding vessels
  • Terrestrial communications, through optical telegraphy, which we can contemplate in the communication towers adjoining the lighthouse
  • Urban communication with the city, by means of church bells and various bell towers

The contents are explained in an entertaining way through audiovisual materials and texts in three languages: Catalan, Spanish and English. The Center is meant to be visited by both adults and children; thus it has different interactive and participatory games aimed at young visitors.
Outside the Center there is an excellent vantage point from where you can enjoy privileged views of the city of Calella, the sea and coastline and, beyond, the mountains of the Montnegre-Corredor Natural Park.
